Lipari is the capital, the largest city and an area of 37.6 square kilometers .Far 24 nautical miles from the coast of Sicily. Its inhabitants, called Liparesi or Liparoti, are about 12,000 , the hamlets of ‘island are Canneto, Acquacalda, Quattropani and Pianoconte. The ancient name of Lipari was Meligunis greek word that means “sweet”. The island of Lipari is an ideal climatic resort and a sought after holiday resort for its mild climate and the charm of its landscapes.
